Oversight
BC Civilian Oversight Operations
In 1995 a complaint was filed against a Smithers R.C.M.P. member, and although the issue was resolved locally without issue the RCMP's retaliatory abuse was on. Two years later three kids got caught in the crossfire of the RCMP's retaliatory abuse and their lives were ultimately destroyed. To this day the RCMP refuses to address the complaint filed concerning their negligence. In 1997 the RCMP were cited with a failed command, Nationally an issue that is well known today.
In 1997 Civilian lead Oversight was established over the RCMP and subsequently the B.C. Ministry of Children and Families Development. Throughout the years Civilian Oversight has expanded given the need.

Street Team Two Many lessons can be learned from history, as in the case of the collapse of the U.S.S.R. With the collapse of the U.S.S.R. came a collapse or interruption in services. It didn't take long after the collapse for civilians to try and fill the void created, was it perfect no did it help, yes. Street Team Two is becoming a civilian operation waiting to assist with any void created. |
